FAQs - Solid Color Epoxy

Quick anwers
to your questions

The time it takes for a new epoxy floor to be ready for traffic is determined by a variety of things, but usually:

  • For foot traffic: It is safe to walk on the floor with light foot traffic within 10 to 24 hours of installation.
  • For heavy things or vehicles: Most flooring take a few days to a week (usually 3 to 10 days) to fully cure before heavy equipment or vehicle usage may resume.

A standard high-gloss epoxy coating can be fairly slippery when wet, posing a safety risk. However, slide resistance is easily customized.

Maybe. For these reason, apply a UV-stable topcoat to prevent fading. High-performance topcoats, such as polyaspartic or polyurethane, are UV-resistant and are ideal for places with direct sunshine, such as garages.

While DIY epoxy kits exist, most experts recommend leaving large projects to professionals. The key is proper surface preparation, grinding, etching, and patching must be done correctly to ensure the coating bonds and doesn’t peel. Professionals also bring the right knowledge of mixing ratios, temperature control, and application techniques, preventing bubbles, uneven finishes, and curing issues.

Solid color epoxy floors generally cost between $3 and $12 per square foot for expert installation, with supplies and professional labor being the primary components.
